Ayodele Warburton in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association will be hosting the Everette Warburton Memorial one-day open table tennis tournament at the Siaka Stevens Stadium table tennis gym on Sunday, 23rd December, 2018 starting at 9am.
The annual tournament started in 2010 but stalled during the Ebola outbreak in 2014.
This is the 5th tournament organized by Ayodele Warburton in memory of his late brother, Everette Warburton, who always supported him as he followed his passion for the sport.
“This tournament is to honour my late brother who supported me playing the game, but it’s also my way of contributing to the development of table tennis in Sierra Leone and to foster camaraderie among the country’s table tennis family,” said Ayodele, who traveled from the United States of America to organize the event.
Ayodele Warburton was a junior and senior national table tennis player with his junior career dating back to the late 1980s. In the 1987 National Petroleum Table Tennis Tournament at the YSC, Ayodele Warburton was a semi-finalist alongside Leone Elliot in the Boys Single. In his senior career, he has represented Sierra Leone in Joola North America table tennis championship and, now based in the US, he is twice the winner of the Sierra Leone Diaspora Table Tennis Tournament in that country.
Meanwhile, registration for the tournament is free and there are trophies and cash prizes up for grabs. There will also be refreshments for all participants.

For more information, interested participants should contact the Sierra Leone Table Tennis Association.
