Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), Honourable Chernor M. Bah, who is also the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Wednesday, March 4, 2015, ordered the Director of Health for All Coalition, Charles Mambu, the Minister of Transport and Aviation, Leonard Balougun Koroma, and Kawusu Kebbe, a senior official of the Minister of Finance, among others to appear before the Committee at exactly 10:00am today.
Also to appear before the Committee are the former Health and Sanitation Minister, Miatta Kargbo, the Deputy Minister of Transport and Aviation, Ibrahim Mansaray, the Director of Finance in the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Festus Kuyembeh, and the former Permanent Secretary in that ministry, Sadique M. Kapuwa.
These persons are expected to appear before members of the Committee in the House of Parliament for the fifth hearing session on the management of the Ebola funds between May and October 2015, in order for them to clarify certain issues highlighted during the last seating in connection with the purchase of 20 ambulances from Dubai.
It could be recalled that at the initial stage of the current Ebola outbreak, the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation went into a contract with Kingdom Security Logistics for the purchase of the said vehicles valued at US$1,050,000 (One Million Fifty United States Dollars), while the Director of Health for All Coalition, Charles Mambu, is to appear in connection with a loan he secured from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development.
